The concept of “late blooming” is clarified and described in statistical terms. The records of 348 general course students were studied to discover if and how frequently “late blooming” occurs. The phenomenon occurs infrequently (2.6% of the cases) and is probably related to students’ resolving personal adjustment problems which had previously been hindering their academic progress.
