Metabolism of C14 Histamine in Man

Abstract
Three normal men were injected intradermally with microgram quantities of C14 histamine. Most of the C14 appeared in the urine within 6 hours. Analysis of this urine showed that 1-methylimidazole-4-acetic acid is the principal metabolite, with smaller quantities of 1-ribosylimidazole-4-acetic acid, imidazoleacetic acid, 1-methyl-4-(β-aminoethyl) imidazole, and unchanged histamine also present. A discussion of the quantitative aspects of the assays is given. Note: with the technical assistance of Rosa L. Smiley and K. Jane Davis. Submitted on June 27, 1956
