Abstract
The photographic, physiologic, and optical factors influencing the interpretation of detail and contrast in radiographs, especially those heavily exposed, are discussed. The importance of reflection from the film surface is pointed out. A simple viewing device which elements reflection and produces optimal functional conditions for the eyes, is described. Keywords
