For performance of intrathoracic operations on the rat, nembutal and scopolamine were effective anesthetic agents. A plastic intratracheal tube was devised for use in such operations and has proved to be satisfactory. A simple water valve apparatus for admn. of O2 under positive pressure was devised for use with the intratracheal tube.
