Abstract
We use a configurational-coordinate method to treat anharmonic quantum lattice fluctuations in nondegenerate conducting polymers. The direct-subgap optical-absorption and luminescence spectra are calculated for polythiophene and poly(3-hexylthienylene). Comparison with experiment is made. Keywords
