Occurrence of abscisic acid in the gibberellin-inhibitor from limabeans

Abstract
Extracts of immature limabeans, which reduce the gibberellinpromoted growth of red-light-grown dwarf peas, contain abscisic acid (ABA). This was demonstrated by thin-layer chromatography, gas-liquid chromatography and ultraviolet absorption spectra. ABA accounts for more than 50% of the inhibitory activity of the extract.
