Impurity pinning in one, two, and three dimensions in incommensurate modulated lattices

Abstract
Applying methods used by Economou and Cohen in the study of Anderson localization in impure lattices to the study of the impure discrete sine-Gordon chain, we have extended to two and three dimensions the results of Fukuyama and Lee on impurity pinning in one-dimensional lattices containing charge-density waves. Our results are also applicable to other systems with two incommensurate periods such as mercury chain compounds, superionic conductors, lubricating thin films, etc.
