Abstract
More than fifty esters of 3‐alkyl‐6‐hydroxy‐1,2‐benzenedicarbonitrile have been prepared. The new esters exhibit stable nematic phases of high negative dielectric anisotropy. The relationship between the clearing points of the esters and the various rings they incorporate is the same as that normally observed for nematic materials of positive dielectric anisotropy.This publication has 12 references indexed in Scilit:
