Abstract
The deformation stacking fault probability has been measured by means of x‐ray diffraction in the six internoble metal alloys (Cu‐Ag, Cu‐Au, Ag‐Cu, Ag‐Au, Au‐Cu, and Au‐Ag) containing 1, 2, 3.5, and 5 at.% of solute. The peak shifts were obtained by use of the centroid method. Addition of the first 1% of solute produces a marked change in faulting probability of copper and gold, but not that of silver. Further increases in solute content result in much smaller increases in faulting probability for all alloy systems. The possible reasons for these changes are discussed briefly. Keywords
