Abstract
In 4 series of fermentation trials, designed to test the influence of various ammoniated feeds and by-products upon cellulose breakdown or protein synthesis by washed rumen microorganisms in vitro it was found that only 1 of 15 products tested gave responses equivalent to NH4Cl as a source of available N. Balance trials (3) with steers gave lower values for apparent digestibility and for retention of the N in some of the products tested in vitro than for the N from urea or natural feed proteins. This publication has 12 references indexed in Scilit:
