Abstract
A case of lepromatous leprosy complicated by extensive amyloidosis of the gastrointestinal tract, resulting in the production of a full-blown fatal malabsorption syndrome, is described. Ante mortem diagnosis was established by biopsy of the jejunum, and necropsy studies demonstrated the extensive and diffuse involvement of the gastrointestinal tract and other viscera by amyloid.
