Abstract
The use of a single Ba2NaNb5O15 crystal to acousto‐optically mode lock and frequency double a Nd : YAG laser is reported. An acoustic transducer was bonded to the crystal to form a standing wave Bragg modulator, and the crystal was mounted in an oven for phase‐matched SHG. The acousto‐optic figure of merit was measured for several orientations. The characteristics of a TEM00 Nd : YAG laser frequency doubled and mode locked at 500 MHz using an AOML/FD are described. Keywords
