Abstract
X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (ESCA) studies suggest that during the carbonization of sulphanilic acid, aromatic ring systems containing sulphur may be formed and this is consistent with data obtained from model compounds containing heterocyclic sulphur. The conclusions are of interest in connection with the problem of sulphur in coke. Keywords
