Observations on some factors in the milk of individual cows which modify the growth of lactic streptococci

Abstract
Milk of 3 cows which had had mastitis, but considered healthy at the time, contained large nos. of leucocytes. Rennet curd from milk containing more than 5 million leucocytes per cc inhibited production of acid by lactic streptococci. Heat treatment of milk at 49-52[degree] for 30 sec. inhibited the action of these cells.
