Spatial Period of Bend Oscillations in the Dielectric Electrohydrodynamical Instability of a Nematic Liquid Crystal

Abstract
We observed the spatial period of "chevrons" in an ac-excited sample of room-temperature nematic methoxy benzylidene buty1 aniline. The frequency dependence of the period is explained by the increase in the dielectric relaxation rate due to ionic diffusion currents, with a normal diffusion constant.
