THE TUBERCULOSTATIC EFFECT OF SUBTILIN IN VITRO AND IN VIVO

Abstract
Tests of the in vitro effect of subtilin on virulent human type tubercle bacillus in 4 liquid media showed that this antibiotic agent possessed moderate inhibitory properties in media containing sorbitan monooleate albumin. Little or no inhibition was noted in the remaining 3 media not containing sorbitan monooleate albumin. Subtilin did not influence the course of tuberculous infection in guinea pigs produced by the same strain of test organism.
