Abstract
The primary Rolled is intermediate between its two secondaries in pollen-tube behavior. In Rolled (Rl) the (n+Rl) half of the pollen grains germinates but cannot effect fertilization due to bursting of the tubes in the upper part of the style. In the secondary Sugarloaf (Sg) the (n+Rl) tubes burst, (n[long dash]Rl+Sg) grains abort, and (n+Sg) tubes grow normally but at a slow rate so that some may fertilize eggs and transmit the Sg condition. In the secondary Polycarpic (Py) the (n+Rl) tubes burst, (n-Rl+Py) grains abort, and (n+Py) grains fail to germinate. In all types n tubes grow normally and accomplish fertilization. This publication has 4 references indexed in Scilit:
