A simple method for analyzing oral and intravenous treatment effects on biomass redistribution of Hymenolepis diminuta (Cestoda) in the rat intestine

Abstract

A simple mathematical expression is proposed to allow determination between the important and nonessential factors involved in analyzing the migrational responses of the tapeworm Hymenolepis diminuta to a variety of oral, intravenous, and vagal stimulations. Analysis of previous data suggests that the parasite is not responding to any single luminal factor but is reacting to a complex of changes mediated through vagal–hormonal interactions.
