The development and formative evaluation of a homebased intervention to reduce passive smoking by infants

Abstract
This paper describes the development of a behavioral intervention to reduce an infant's exposure to tobacco smoke in the first six months of life. To develop the intervention, data were collected and analyzed to test the constructs of the theoretical framework employed, and to test initial responses by mothers to the intervention. Analyses of 126 mothers' longitudinal reports suggest desirable changes in target behaviors necessary to control tobacco smoke around infants.
