Abstract
15[alpha]-Hydroxy-17[beta]-estradiol was isolated from enzymatically hydrolysed late-pregnancy urine by preparative paper chrom-atography, by thin layer chromatography at low temperature (-15[degree] C), and by column chromatography on celite. 15[alpha]-Hydroxy-17[beta]-estradioi was identified by its ultraviolet spectrum, by its infrared spectrum and by enzymatic oxidation to 15[alpha]-hydroxyoestrone and subsequent dehydration of this product to 14-dehydro-estrone and 15-dehydro-14[beta]-estrone. In preliminary experiments, the concentration of 15[alpha]-hydroxy-17[beta]-estradiol in late pregnancy urine (mens X) was found to range from 50 to 100 [mu]g/24 h.This publication has 6 references indexed in Scilit:
