Abstract
Band-gap structure of periodic waveguide arrays is investigated in the linear and the nonlinear regimes. Excitation of array modes belonging to high bands is demonstrated. Floquet-Bloch solitons are demonstrated experimentally and shown to be a generalization of discrete solitons. Keywords
