Absorption of a stopped π- meson by a nucleon pair in light nuclei is considered with the emission of a high energy nucleon while the other nucleon is trapped by the nucleus and renders the latter strongly excited. Calculation is performed for C12 nuclei, and the excitation energy distribution of the residual nucleus B11 is compared with experimental results.
