On April 4 and 5, 1968, a conference was held on the topic, The Nature of Science and Nursing, as a part of the nurse scientist program and under the auspices of the School of Nursing at the University of Colorado. Approximately 75 participants from 23 universities attended the conference. Dr. Madeleine Leininger, conference chairman and director of the nurse scientist program, prepared the proceedings for publication. The report consists of an introduction, three papers, a panel discussion, and participant questions and speaker responses. Support for the conference was provided by the United States Department of Health, Education and Welfare, Public Health Service, Nu98529, from the Division of Nursing. The planning committee members were Dr. J. Hadley, Dr. I. Palmer, Dr. K. Smith, Mrs. B. Mitsunaga, and Dr. M Leininger.
