Abstract
The hyperglycemic-glycogenolytic factor (HGF) was obtained from commercial insulin in which it exists as a contaminant. This prepn. was admd. intraven. to a number of patients with "stable" and with "labile" diabetes. The latter patients showed a more marked rise in blood sugar levels than did the former or a group of miscellaneous subjects. It is postulated that in this group of "labile" diabetic patients there may be a deficiency in alpha cell function whence the HGF is supposed to be derived, or that the glycogen stores in these patients react differently from those of the normal and "stable" diabetic group.
