Abstract
A chemical technic for the detection and detn. of progesterone in biological material is based on the extraction of the hormone and its partition between organic solvents, its final separation by chromatographic partition on filter paper and its subsequent estimation by u.-v. absorption spectroscopy. Work on the chromatography of steroids has resulted in the development of a reversed phase system capable of separating progesterone from impurities, which is also of value in establishing the identity of substances isolated from biological material. Keywords
