Abstract
Tests from 1927 to 1929 in dormant applications of 3,5 dinitro-o-cresol (usually converted to sodium dinitro-o-cresylate) and in 1937 and 1938 with lauryl rhodanate and dinitro-o-cyclo-hexylphenol indicate that these compounds are effective ovicides for aphid eggs on apple trees, and in this respect compared favorably with coal-tar distillate applied at the same time. Phytocidal action of lauryl rhodanate was sufficiently severe to eliminate it from further consideration. Fall applications usually required a slightly greater conc. of each ovicide than was required for equivalent control when applied in March.
