A simple Stark modulator

Abstract
A simple, all solid-state, circuit is described which has produced a square wave with an amplitude of 1800 V and a frequency of 80 kHz in a capacitative load. The device is of application to Stark modulation in microwave and gas radical e.s.r. spectroscopy. It has certain advantages over previous systems in being more compact, providing an output which is automatically zero-based and also continuous over the range 5-1800 V, thus avoiding the need for capacitative division.
