Nuclear absorption of low energy pions and the pion-nucleus optical potential

Abstract

The energy dependence of the optical model parameters for low energy, 0-50 MeV, pions was determined by a compromise fit to pionic atoms, ${\pi }^{+}$ elastic scattering, and ${\pi }^{\mp }$ absorption measurements.
