Abstract
The conditional cell division cycle yeast [Saccharomyces cerevisiae] mutants cdc were used to demonstrate that intragenic recombination induced by UV or .gamma. rays occurs in diploids arrested in G1, a short time after irradiation and before the initiation of the S phase. This implies that pairing of homologous chromosomes does not require duplicated chromatids.Keywords
