Abstract
The method is based on periodic acid oxidation. It allows simultaneous estimation of acetaldehydogenic and formalde-hydogenic steroids. A urinary excretion of unconjugated acetaldehydogenic material equivalent to 0.1-0.5 mg./day of C21 17, 20 -dihydroxy-20-methylsteroids was found for 7 normal males. The presence of conjugated acetaldehydogenic material in normal male urine is also indicated.
