Abstract
The differential and total cross sections for the elastic and inelastic scattering of electrons by mercury and sodium are computed in the energy range of the dominant quantum level transitions, 6.703 eV, 6s-6p and 2.104 eV, 3s-3p respectively. The cross sections are calculated in the close coupling approximation and agree satisfactorily with experimental results and other calculations. Keywords
