Rotational intensity distribution in theH2photoelectron spectrum

Abstract
The intensity distributions of rotational lines of the H2+ photoelectron spectrum (Hei) were obtained using a high-resolution photoelectron spectrometer (ΔE=13 meV) and the deconvolution technique. The ratios of the intensity of the lines for the (J,J)=(0,0), (2,2), and (3,3) transitions to the intensity of the line for the (J,J)=(1,1) transition were measured as a function of the vibrational quantum numbers (v) and found to be almost independent of v. It is observed that the ratio of the total intensity of the line with ΔJ=2 to that with (1,1) decreases as v becomes larger in agreement with the theoretical calculation. The rotational constants of the ground state of H2+ obtained in the present experiment agree with previously reported data.
