Issues in Research and Service Delivery among Mexican American Elderly: A Concise Statement with Recommendations

Abstract

An extensive review of the literature on Mexican American elderly reveals (1) more argument than concensus in the interpretation of the available data and (2) a tendency for researchers to treat this population as if it was homogeneous. To improve this situation, specific recommendations for future research are offered, plus advice to service providers concerning the special socioeconomic and cultural characteristics of elderly Mexican Americans.
