Abstract
Penicillin interferes with a cross-linking reaction in bacterial mucopeptide synthesis. This reaction is a trans-peptidation linking the penultimate D-alanine to the free amino group of a neighboring peptide chain with the release of the terminal D-alanine.This publication has 22 references indexed in Scilit:
