Abstract
THE pathogenesis and treatment of the vascular collapse often attending myocardial infarction have perplexed investigators for many years. Particularly vigorous in recent years has been the debate over the safety and efficacy of treatment with transfusions of blood or plasma. Although a few case reports of such treatment have appeared in the literature1 , 2 and many opinions have been given pro3 4 5 and con,6 7 8 no series of cases has yet been published.At the New Haven Hospital transfusion of patients in shock after myocardial infarction has both advocates and opponents.
