A developmental study of transposition.

Abstract
Six groups of 20 Ss were selected from preschool, Grades 2, 5, 8, and 10, and college in order to explore the developmental changes in the learning of a size discrimination and in the transposition to a set of stimuli one step removed from the training pair. A decrease in learning trials was found through Grade 5, but a significant increase appeared following Grade 8. The incidence of transposition did not differ significantly among the groups.
