A photoconductive detector for high-speed fiber communication

Abstract
In this paper we describe a new class of high-speed (∼200 ps) photoconductive detectors that have internal gain (∼10) and operate at low-bias voltage (∼5 V). These detectors also have moderately low noise (neise equivalent power (NEP) ∼ 10-11W. Hz-1/2) so that they are expected to find practical applications in high-speed optical receivers.
