Uptake of Tritiated Thymidine by Leukemic Cells: Effect of Various Leukocyte Preparations.

Abstract
Summary Homogenates of normal and chronic myelocytic leukemic leukocytes inhibit the uptake of tritiated thymidine by leukocytes from patients with chronic myelocytic leukemia. However, intact leukocytes from patients with chronic myelocytic leukemia elaborate a factor which increases the uptake of the labeled thymidine whereas normal leukocytes inhibit thymidine uptake under these conditions. The observations suggest that local bone marrow concentrations of stimulatory and inhibitory substances may influence leukopoiesis.
