TRUE HERMAPHRODITISM: ENDOCRINE STUDIES IN A CASE OF OVOTESTIS

Abstract
A case of true hermaphroditism is reported with a normal ovary on the left and an ovotestis on the right. The patient represents the 40th case of true hermaphroditism in the literature and was subjected to endocrine studies. The ovotestis was found in a hernial sac and was resected surgically. Post-operatively the 17-ketosteroid excretion was sharply reduced. The urinary gonadotropins were elevated pre-operatively and showed no significant change following surgery.
