Abstract
An electron microscope investigation of germinating conidia of Neurospora crassa (St. Lawrence strain) has revealed the presence of lomasome-like structures. These structures are differentiated from mesosomes in that lomasomes are vesicular or tubular in nature, and always located at the periphery of the cell, whereas mesosomes are myelinoid-like bodies, often interconnected with large vesicles and mitochondria. Lomasomes were frequently observed in vacuolating cells.
