Abstract
The authors have investigated the electron transmission spectrum and the dissociative attachment cross section of HF in the energy region 10-15 eV. Only one Feshbach resonance (12.8-14 eV) has been found. A series of peaks is observed in the dissociative attachment cross section in the same energy region, corresponding to F-(1S)+H*(n=2, 3, 4, 5) products. The first peaks are attributed to the predissociation of the Feshbach resonance found in the electron transmission spectrum. The strong F- peak at 12.8 eV is likely to explain the serious perturbation observed in the transmission spectrum and previously reported in 1975 by Spence and Noguchi. Keywords
