Abstract
Temperature-regulatory responses of young (2-4 mos.) and adult opossums were studied. Both held down their body temperature by panting, salivating, and licking saliva over their feet, tail, legs and lateral trunk surfaces. The evaporation of the saliva from the body surface appeared to be an indispensable heat-dissipating mechanism.Keywords
