Abstract
The present paper reviews the literature on the occurrence of special- ized feeding of adult carabid beetles on plants or some animal prey. Apart from these qualitative aspects of feeding, I will also consider the quantity of their food intake as far as this is known at present. This paper will not consider the food of carabid larvae as it seems that larval feeding has been studied even less than that of the adults (BRAKMAN, 1956; LINDROTH, 1949; MURDOCH, 1966)
