Abstract
T[thymus-derived]-lymphocyte determination in patients with acute untreated tuberculosis showed a significantly higher mean value than determinations in a control group. This finding is in contrast to earlier investigations in nonselected series. The increase mean value was mainly due to increased T-lymphocyte numbers in patients with severe tuberculosis. The amount of T-lymphocytes in chronic alcoholics did not differ significantly from those in other patients. There was no correlation between number of T-cells and size of reaction in tuberculin skin tests.
