Abstract
In a medium consisting of chicken plasma and chicken amniotic fluid, growth inhibition by hydrocortisone in concns. of 200 [mu]g./ml. is demonstrated consistently. When embryo extract (EE) is added to the medium, a similar degree of growth inhibition requires higher concn. of hydrocortisone. Hydrocortisone in suspension was less effective than hydrocortisone in solution. Desoxycorticosterone acetate caused growth inhibition quite similar to that obtained by hydrocortisone and both favored the formation of large fat vacuoles in an unusually early stage of growth. However, fibroblast retardation was reversed after hormone removal from the culture medium. Keywords
