Abstract
The clinical and laboratory (particularly ENG [electronystagogram]) findings of 45 cases of vestibular neuritis during the acute stage were described. The presence of vigorous nystagmus, unilateral canal paresis, and normal cochlear function was emphasized. Results are in essential agreement with earlier studies delineating vestibular neuritis as an entity with characteristic clinical course, findings, and prognosis. The etiology and the specific site of the lesion remain obscure. An attempt was made to apply our findings in vestibular neuritis, particularly canal paresis, to the problem of differential diagnosis of vertigo during the acute stage. This publication has 4 references indexed in Scilit:
