Abstract
Tetrachloroantimony trimethylsilylcarbodiimide, Cl4SbNCNSiMe3, has been synthesized by the reaction of SbCl5 with Me3SiNCNSiMe3 in a 1:1 molar ratio. The pale yellow compound is dimeric in solution and in the solid state and has according to the vibrational spectra a centrosymmetric structure of C2h symmetry. The X-ray structure determination shows the monoclinic space group P21/c with two dimeric units per cell. The structure was refined to an R-value of 0,04.
