Über die enzymatische Spaltbarkeit der Protamine. (Dritte Mitteilung über enzymatische Proteolyse.)

Abstract
The enzymic hydrolysis of the protamines (clupeine, salmine, scombrine, and sturine) shows they are not homogeneous. They agree qualitatively when acted upon by trypsin-kinase, erepsin, papain, and papain-HCN, but their hydrolysis by trypsin (sturine no hydrolysis, clupeine 0.90, salmine 1.00, scombrine 0.60) shows, by quantitative comparison, marked differences possibly due to differences in molecular magnitude but probably to specific linkages present. The proline content of the protamines investigated corresponds approximately to the relative extent to which they are hydro-lyzed by trypsin.
