The vitamin B12-binding systems of isolated intestine of the rat

Abstract
The measurement of uptake of radioactive vitamin B12 by isolated intestine has been described. The effect of pseudovitamin B12, an anti-vitamin B12 and the lactone of vitamin B12 on uptake of radioactive vitamin B12 has been studied. Two vitamin B12-binding systems were demonstrated, one competitive and the other non-competitive. The implications of the non-competitive binding system in relation vitamin B12 uptake are discussed.
