Abstract
Using Monte Carlo methods with SU(2) and U(1) lattice gauge theories, we compare physical ratios of Wilson loops on different length scales. An interesting renormalization-group structure is suggested for the U(1) theory. For the SU(2) case we only see a fixed point at vanishing bare coupling. At this point asymptotic freedom is verified numerically. Keywords
